aaj diya ek aur bhuj gaya hai

kal tak jo merey saath tha,

ab kyun achanak chuk gaya hai

kaisey koi ab jaan payey

kis safar ka nishan aaj mit gaya hai

aaj diya ek aur bhuj gaya

bahut guman tha, ki saath ham chal payenge

lekin kyun achanak tumko saathi

ek smanadar kaal ka, kyun is tarah pee gaya hai

terey adhoorey sapno ko kya ab

merey andherey aakaash mein, taron ki tarah see gaya hai

when freedom  is not flying free
when freedom is not breaking away
when freedom is not denying the bonds
i am then always free
for i am bound
all around
by the bonds

aaj yeh sawal bhi tumney poochh hi dala

aakhir kis intazaar mein tha itna samaya nikala

kyun nahin poochha ki tabiyat kaisi hai

kyun sirf anuman se hi man ko sambhala

kaisey batata, kitna aatur that milney ko

lekin har baar meri koshish ko kuchh naya naam de dala

did you see,  the cold wind has started knocking the door

do not close it tight

nor light the fire so early

shiver a bit

suffer a bit

who knows that you begin to notice

the warmth even in this coldness

ek addhar hai jo mujhey tootaney nahin deta
kisee bhi museebat key ankur man mein phootaney nahin deta
ummeedon ke jangal mey jiya hun main kuchh is tarah,
aakhir koi to yakeen hai jo ek tinkey ka sahara chhootaney nahin deta

tumney kai baar poochha, kyun kis dhun mein bhaga ja raha hun main
kis manjil ki talash hai jo itna khud ko gala raha hun main
kaisey batata hai ki kitna dard hai merey dil mein unkey liyey
jinkey man mein ummeed ki kiran jagata ja rahan hun main

jab kabhi thak jao, lagey ki ab aagey chalney mein hai thodi mushkil
kisee kareebi se chaut lagey, aur dooriyan ban jayey teri mustakbil
aisey main meri ek baat ho sakey to, yad rakhna
kisee bhi najdeekiyon ko tohmat mat dena, gum ho jayegi warna apni manjil

when lights are eloquent, and the shadows are quiet

you are away

amongst the flowers in your garden

aroma of assurances

arms of intimacy

are stretched in vain

why should trail of light

not lead you to walk up the path

what are you waiting for

why this indecisiveness

what are you asking for

which this sky can not offer

why not create a new sky

by tearing the tears

off the idols u worshiped  so long

when lights paved your way

i kept quiet and decide to stay

where i was, lest i disturb

the joyful

moments,

the drops of dew

that dare not curb

whatever you seek

in life now or later

may there be solace

and sufficiency around

if even for only a few steps

i could  walk and add some

sparklle

should i feel bad, that it was not

for long

how do i communicate

my forest is on fire,
to this barren place,

of course,

you do not belong

chahey kisee bhi bhav

tum meri asmita ko taulo

aaj tum bas kuchh bolo

kaun jaaney kis tarah,

jeevan ki khulti hai girah

baand naye bandhan

shayad  tum ab nayey dwar kholo

main maun hun, tum bolo

nahin samajh payega jag

kis tarah raukey hain pag

kshama karo yadi bhula na pao

ab  swaro mein nayey ras gholo

main maun hin ab tum bolo

aaj phir ullas hai

jeevan mein khoye rang

to kya, taro bhara aakash hai

aaj phir ullas hai

kyun karun chinta kisee ki,

kyun baanu dukh ki seedhi,

har pal merey charo taraf, jab

tera wishwas hai

aaj phir ullas hai

why do i gather stones

curved and pointed

rather than the rounded ones

what will I do with these

i can not even hurt a fly

yet i keep these stones

may be to break all the castles i build in the sand

but then why would one need stones for that

would not a slight push do the job

may be even the castles

become stronger after i build them

just as the scars, which become stronger,

the more i heal them
