convergence

is it necessary
that we should converge in all spaces
can we not agree to grow hedges on some sides
so that we can walk
on the other side
why should we insist that one should
walk through
this garden
from anywhere
may be some spaces need to be insulated
from the steps of walkers
so that seedlings grown there
can sustain
not every body can
nurture seedlings
may be you are good
for breaking fences
throwing stones in the lake
to let ripples
become lines of a song
that will be sung
when you are gone
dont insist
on all sides be open
let us walk on the part where
there is no throughfare
and thus
greater safety
of steps not treading on
path closed now

molten wax

i collected
all the wax
that had fallen down
when you took candles down the aisle
to illuminate your path ahead
i thought i will make new candles out of it
and some body else will use them
i am a candle maker
but how can i
ensure
how do you hold the candle
fake or otherwise
the light is there
get hold of the ray
that reflects in the tears
that are here sometimes,
sometimes there
do i care?
do you care?
window pane has become a mirror
because of the foil you pasted
to keep light away
this darkness is your invention
dont blame the wax i collected
or candle i made

Morning worms

Bright morning
Birds have already had their
Pick of morning worms
Why will they savour dry crumbs
Of my bread
But the colours are more generous
Shine
Sparkle
Smile

fence sitters

having decided to strengthen the fences
there is not much to say
we can still stand across them
and talk
without rupturing the silence
lying amidst the leaf litter
lying at the base of that fence

a gardner is lost now

yesterday
an old gardner died
with beard and white hairs
he was always smiling
i often met him while going to my office
sometimes he seemed worried, lost,
but he was always present in the moment
i asked him about his past
and learned only a few bits
which did not tell me
where was he lost
but he was lost
and now he is lost
i will have to find new gardner
to sow the flowers
and remove the weeds
he would plant some weeds like flowers
and thats what i liked about him
but who will not nurture weeds like flowers
may be i will find another gardner
but that gardner is lost
nobody can take his place
can one?

Don’t lean forward

Don’t lean
Walk straight
I know
I caused you a lot of burden
But it will not remain
Same always
Walk slowly
Slowly
Slowly

Brewing coffee the right way

Don’t complain
Dont regret
When facade doesn’t hold
Accept
Meltdown
No point in arguing
What is not tenable
Let the truth prevail
Someday
We will have a cup of coffee
Hopefully by then
I would have learned
The brewing
The way
You taught me

——-

When roads meet a dead end
We don’t blame the asphalt
For melting away
Nor do we try to
Complain
For not being warned enough
Earlier
We just
Look around
And try to
Find a new trail
Which may become a road
Someday
Till then
We reflect
And thank the time
For letting us be together
So long as it was possible

tumney bahut bhram paaley

tumney bahut bhram paaley
tumney bahut bhram paaley
meri baagbaani ki tareef ki
aur phir
saarey saarey ke paudhey ukhadey
paudhey ukhadey
tumney bahut bhram paaley

mujhey meri karuna ka hawala diya
aur bin jaaney kyun itney jakhm de daaley
tumney baahut bhram paaley

mushkil tha, man ko samjhana
bina sur ke gana gana
lekin tumhari khushi ki khaatir
fatey aacnhal se todey saarey sitarey
tumney par phir bhi
itney bhram paaley
kyun

Where it was, actually empty

Embrace me
Said the child
But the mother
Was in rush
She had an appointment to keep
With her mission
To be
What she was not
But she wanted to be,
Child continued to cry
Mother was busy still
Colour pallet
Is full
But canvas is empty
Where it was to be full
And full of cries
Where it was
Actually
Empty

Fairness is not fungible

When we meditate
We start to see
The truth
And I saw it
When I realised
That my commitment to truth
Is not being honoured
In my bearing with unjust
Demands on my attention
And affection
I have to be fair
No dilemma and no doubt
Fairness is not fungible
